Large scale investigation into fatal arson fire

The state Fire Marshal’s Office says a large scale investigation is under way into the arson fire that killed a West Virginia Air National Guard firefighter. They’re conducting interviews and reviewing surveillance video. The fire outside of Martinsburg claimed the life of thirty-year-old Senior Airman Logan Young.

Over 24,000 active COVID-19 cases in WV

Health officials are reporting over seven-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and nine more people have died. There are over 24-thousand active cases of the virus statewide, and more than 700 people are hospitalized.

All WV long-term care facilities have received COVID-19 vaccine

Governor Justice says all residents and staff at long-term care facilities in West Virginia have been offered the COVID-19 vaccine. The plan has been aggressive because of the impact the virus has had on nursing homes. People 70 years-old and older make up over 75-perecent of deaths from COIVD-19 in West Virginia.

WorkForce WV audit shows state could be losing $1 million in income tax revenue

McKinley backs increased COVID-19 relief

The U.S. House of Representatives approved increasing COVID-19 relief payments to two-thousand-dollars with West Virginia’s David McKinley and forty-three other Republicans joining a majority of Democrats in supporting the change.

Trucks and equipment stolen from coal complex

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after two pickups, a trailer and other equipment were stolen from the Seminole Coal complex in Powelltown. The theft happened between December 22nd and 28th. Police are looking for a green and a red Ford F250 with Ohio tags.
