News Staff A shelter-in-place order has been lifted after an explosion at the Chemours plant in Belle. Four people were hurt. Schools in the area are closed today as a precaution. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
The City of Charleston and Kanawha County Commission recently gave cloth face coverings to local non-profits that do outreach work throughout Kanawha County. The Lincoln County courthouse is closing for at least two weeks after employees from two offices were possibly exposed to the coronavirus. Charleston police officer Cassie Johnson was laid to rest Tuesday. Johnson died last Thursday at Charleston Area Medical Center after she was shot two days earlier on Garrison Avenue while responding to a parking complaint. Governor Justice says West Virginians are already taking COVID-19 precautions, and he doesn’t think that more government action would be effective ins slowing the spread of the virus. There are over a thousand new cases of the virus, and three more people have died. The daily positive test rate is over seven percent.
