There are almost 870 new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and nine more people have died. Hospitalizations are up to 365, and the daily positive test rate is over five-percent.

Four West Virginia counties moved into the red on the state’s COVID-19 alert map. Jackson, Randolph, Marshall and Mineral counties all moved to from orange to red in the daily update. Sixteen counties are in the orange.

The first snow of the season is expected tonight. The National Weather Service is issuing a winter weather advisory from 10 p.m. tonight until noon tomorrow. We could see one-to-two inches of snow.

West Virginia State Police are looking for a two-year-old boy who was last seen in New Martinsville. Police think he was kidnapped by his 19-year-old uncle. Police are looking for a Honda Accord with Georgia plates.

Two more men are under arrest in connection to a murder investigation in Mason County. Three men were shot in a home near Hannan. Two of the victims have died and one is in critical condition. A third suspect was arrested earlier this week.

Three people were hurt in a shooting outside Big shots Bar in Jefferson. The shots were fired when a large group got into a fight. The injuries are considered non-life threatening. No arrests have been made.

Nurses at Cabell-Huntington Hospital are rejecting a contract offer after months of negotiations. The union says it didn’t do enough to address health insurance costs or safe hospital staffing. Union officials are asking for additional negotiations.

West Virginia reached a new daily high in coronavirus cases Saturday morning with the addition of 1,153 positive tests. The active case total climbed to 9,141 with the new cases, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
