Charleston Tire Shop is Gutted By Fire

A Charleston tire shop was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. Metro 911 dispatchers said the fire was reported at Mountaineer Tire on Kanawha Blvd. around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. By the time firefighters got there the fire had spread from a pile of tires outside the building to the structure itself.

Charleston Fire Dept. has a new chief

The Charleston Fire Department has a new Chief. Mayor Amy Goodwin appointed Shawn Wanner to the position. He is the current Assistant Fire Chief, and has been with the department since 1996. Wanner succeeds Jeff Jackson, who is retiring.

CAMC workers get $1,000 bonus

Charleston Area Medical Center will give employees who worked full-time during the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic a one-thousand-dollar bonus. More than 450 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

WV Supreme Court allows soccer tournament to kick off

The state Supreme Court says that AAA prep soccer teams can play in the state championship this weekend. The high court reversed a lower court ruling halting the tournament over COVID-19 testing disparities. The boys championship games is this morning at 10 a.m., and the girls at 1:30 p.m.
