Dunbar shooting under investigation

Police are investigating a shooting in Dunbar. A woman who had been shot in the arm walked into the GoMart on 16th Street. Investigators say the shooting appears to be accidental. The victim is expected to be okay. No arrests have been made.

Former Justice Loughry questions juorors Twitter use

A Court of Appeals is considering whether a juror’s social media exposure, during the trial of former West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Allen Loughry, could have biased her. Loughry’s attorneys say a district court in Charleston erred by denying a hearing based on the juror’s Twitter usage.

More than 400 new COVID-19 cases in WV

There are more than four-hundred new cases of COVID-19 in West Virginia, and seven more people have died. Wyoming County showed enough improvement to move out of the “red.” Mingo County is the only red county on the daily COVID-19 alert map.

Georgia man sentenced to life in prison for death of WV woman

A Georgia man was sentenced to four life sentences plus ten-years for drug distribution that resulted in a Fairmont woman’s death. Thirty-five-year-old Terrick Robinson was found guilty in January on eight charges after the body of Courtney Dubois was found in a Georgia landfill in 2018.

Three arrested after high speed pursuit

Three people are under arrest after leading police on a pursuit reaching speeds of more than one-hundred-miles-per-hour on I-77. The SUV stopped when it hit spike strip that blew out the front tires. All three are facing drug charges. Officers found heroin and meth in the car.

Goodwin didn’t know about needle distribution

Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin says she didn’t know the nonprofit group, SOAR, was distributing needles in the city. She agrees that the needle exchange program violates city code. Goodwin says the sole issue of needle exchange is getting too much attention, and that the whole process of recovery is not being addressed.

Kanawha County Remains in Green
