Police said a George Washington High School student has been arrested in connection with an alleged threat that was posted on social media. The student is a juvenile so the name was not released. The student has been charged with threats of terrorist acts and was taken to James H. Tiger Morton Juvenile Facility.

A nurse at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown died due to complications of COVID-19. The West Virginia Nurses Association said it marks the first West Virginia nurse death associated with the virus. 48-year old Jeannette Williams Parker was a clinical nurse preceptor and nurse supervisor of MRI, and had been in that role since 1997.

Fall fire season is underway in West Virginia, with limits set on outdoor burning through the end of the year. The latest data from West Virginia Kids Count shows the state is nearly last in the country for the economic wellbeing of children; dropping from 47th to 48th on the list this year. Nearly a quarter of kids live in poverty throughout West Virginia.

The City of Charleston wants to build a skate park under I-64 between Virginia Street and Kanawha Boulevard. The City has to get approval from the Division of Highways, because the land is under the interstate.

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Kanawha County, and there 35 new cases of the virus. There will be a drive-up testing and flu shot event on Thursday in the old Smith’s parking lot in Clendenin.
