State revenue surges

The state’s revenue collection exceeded estimates by over ten-million-dollars in September. The state collected over 420-million-dollars in taxes, which puts revnue 90-million-dollars ahead of estimates for the fiscal year. Governor Justice says the next step is to cut taxes, and eliminate the state income tax.

Officer involved shooting in Raleigh County

A Raleigh County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering in the hospital after being shot by a man in a car chase. The deputy returned fire and killed the suspect. The officer was shot twice in the chest, but was saved by his bullet proof vest.

Suspect wanted in West Side shooting

Police are investigating a shooting on the West Side. A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg at the intersection of Grant and Glenwood Streets. He’s in critical condition. No arrests have been made.

Kroger employees rally for better working conditions

Kroger workers are demanding the company negotiate a fair union contract. They held a car caravan protest at the Kanawha City Kroger on MacCorkle Avenue. Negotiations on a new union contract have been underway since August. They’re at odds over healthcare for retirees and better working conditions.

West Side Shooting Remains Under Investigation

Police are investigating after a man was shot on Charleston’s West Side Thursday morning. The Drug Enforcement Administration said it dismantled an illegal steroid manufacturing and distribution facility in Huntington.
