Parkersburg police looking for bank robber

Parkersburg police are looking for an armed bank robber. The man walked into the downtown branch of Community Bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police looking for hit-and-run suspect

Charleston police are looking for a man who took off during a traffic stop and hit a woman who was walking her kids to school on the West Side. The woman is in critical condition. Forty-four-year-old Che Dushon Lark abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Man accused of torturing woman

A LeRoy man is accused of beating and shackling a woman. The victim says 45-year-old Peter Lizon severely beat her and tied her up with rope at their home, when he became angry because he thought she was talking to another man. Lizon is charged with kidnaping and malicious wounding. The woman is okay.

Man pleads guilty to escaping home confinement

A Charleston man is accused of escaping home confinement. Forty-four-year-old Harrison Shaffer, Jr. pleaded guilty to intentionally leaving his home without permission. He’s on home confinement for a strangulation offense. Schaffer will be sentenced in April.

Ethics Commission okays Governor’s airplane use

The state Ethics Commission says it’s okay for a state airplane to pick up and drop off Governor Justice at his home in Lewisburg if he’s traveling on official state business. The Commission called it a practical matter, and if that latitude is abused, other agencies can intervene.

Kanawha County Schools preparing for coronavirus

Kanawha County Schools has released a plan to deal with the coronavirus. It focuses on prevention through hand washing and regular cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces. School Health Services will be in daily contact with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department.
