Madison Announces the Death of Its Mayor

The City of Madison announced the death of its mayor Saturday morning. The city said on its Facebook page that Madison Mayor H.H. “Sonny” Howell Jr. passed away about 5 a.m. Howell served as Madison’s mayor since 2005. He was 81 years old. Funeral service plans are pending.

YMCA Branches Earn Grant Money

Four YMCA branches in West Virginia were the recipients of grants this week totaling $35,000. The Walmart Foundation presented the grants to the Charleston Family YMCA, the YMCA of Huntington, the YMCA of Wheeling and the Southern West Virginia YMCA.
