Kanawha County Library moving to Town Center

The Kanawha County Library is moving to Charleston Town Center. The downtown library will move into the mall temporarily with the current library undergoes a major renovation and expansion. The library will take over the space by early summer, and the project is expected to take two-years to complete.

City demoloshing East End building

City officials have started demolishing a crumbling building in the East End. A judge denied the owner’s request to halt the process, saying nothing had been done in the past ten years to make sure the building was safe and kept up to code.

Device explodes in man’s hand

A man was injured when an explosive device went off in his hand at his Culloden home. Family members told officers that the victim likes to “tinker,” and he was trying to make a rocket. He’s in the hospital, and is expected to lose his hand.

Elderly man robbed and left inside trunk

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an 84-year-old man was robbed, beaten and left in the trunk of his car. The suspect crashed the car into a creek in the Highland Bend area and ran off. The victim was able to escape and get help.

Cabell County deputies receive Purple Heart

Two Cabell County Sheriff’s Deputies received the Purple Heart for being shot in the line of duty last fall. Deputies James Johnston and Jared Cremeans were shot while trying to serve a search warrant at a home on Blue Sulphur Road.
