The annual contemporary Christian music festival Winter Jam returns to Charleston on Friday. Crowder will headline the show at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.

A 70-year-old woman died in a house fire in Huntington. Firefighters couldn’t reach the second floor to get her out of the Fifth Avenue home.

Three Ohio men were cited for carrying firearms on state Capitol Building grounds. The three men had AR-15s and semi-automatic pistols, and were stopped by Capitol police. It’s not clear why the men were there, all three received citations and were released.

Several roads are closed on the East End after bricks fell from the façade of a building at the corner of Washington and Elizabeth streets. City officials say the old restaurant is structurally unsound and will be torn down immediately.

The body of Jamie Gray, a kayaker who went missing over a week ago, has been recovered about a mile-and-a-half from where she was last seen. Gray was on a kayaking excursion with a group of kayakers on the Middle Fork River.

An escaped inmate has been captured. Roger Lee Yeager escaped from a work-release at Charleston Correctional Center Saturday evening and he was arrested Sunday morning just before 7:30. Plans are in place for a wheelchair-accessible playground at Kanawha State Forest in Charleston. The Kanawha State Forest Foundation said on social media that $58,000 has been donated for the playground, which is estimated to cost around $80,000. The West Virginia Senate has passed a bill to give pay raises to judges statewide. The bill passed on a 29-3 vote Monday. It now goes to the House of Delegates. The search continues for a missing kayaker in Barbour County. Forty-one-year-old Jamie Gray disappeared a week ago when she got separated from a group of kayakers on the Middle Fork River.
