Manchin not in favor of border wall funding

Senator Joe Manchin is not in favor of a plan to pull nearly four-billion-dollars from the Defense Department to build President Trump’s border wall. Manchin says the decision to divert the funding is up to Congress and not the President.

Woodrow Wilson High School pricipal supports his team

The principal of Woodrow Wilson High School is backing the actions of his players and coaches, and says Governor Justice’s “thug” comment showed a complete lack of respect. The governor says he was not making a racial comment, and has apologized for offending anyone.

Crime is down in Charleston

Crime is down in Charleston. The Charleston Police Department released their “Year End Report” for 2019. Malicious wounding, burglary, larceny, and vehicle theft were all down. Chief Tyke Hunt says there is still progress to be made. Robbery was up slightly, and overdoses increased.

Pomeroy landmark damaged in fire

A Pomeroy landmark was damaged in a fire. The blaze broke out early Sunday morning at the Wild Horse Café. The fire was contained to the attic, but the interior sustained minor water damage.

Escaped inmate captured at bus station

Police captured an escaped inmate at the Greyhound Bus Terminal. Fifty-four-year-old Roger Yeager escaped while on work release. He’s serving five-to-ten-years form breaking and entering and shoplifting. Additional charges are pending.

Woman shot in domestic dispute

A man is under arrest for shooting and wounding a woman in South Hills. Forty-eight-year-old Christopher Dowling shot the woman several times during a domestic dispute. She’s expected to be okay.

Police looking for man involved in pursuit

Police are searching for a Poca man who was involved in police chase. Thirty-nine-year-old Joseph Fowler III was driving a stolen pickup, with a license plate stolen from a different vehicle. Police found the truck in Putnam County, but Fowler is still on the run.
