The West Virginia Senate has passed a bill encouraging power companies to use solar energy. The bill would create a regulatory program for utilities to use a small amount of renewable energy. But, lawmakers were quick to note that the legislation would not hurt the coal industry.

Williamson roadway reopen after rockslide

West Third Avenue is open again after a major rockslide two days ago in Williamson. Crews worked around the clock to reopen the road in the Fairview Addition. Official are warning drivers to slow down in the area, because the road surface is rougher than normal.

Barge strike did not damage Pomeroy-Mason Bridge

The West Virginia Division of Highways says the Pomeroy-Mason Bridge did not suffer any damage when it was hit by a loose barge. As many as fifteen barges were reported loose and floating down the Ohio River Thursday night. Tug boats have secured all the barges.
