WV librarians ask for funding

Librarians are asking legislators for ten-million-dollars to repair and upgrade libraries in the state. The money would be used to repair buildings, buy more books, and strengthen internet service. The funding needs to be approved by the Senate Finance committee.

Former Nitro clerk plead guilty to embezzlement

Former Nitro municipal clerk, 61-year-old Robin Smith, has pleaded guilty to embezzling at least 70-thousand-dollars from the city. Investigators found thousands of dollars in cash hidden in her office, and uncashed checks dating back to 2001. Smith faces up to ten years in prison.

Suspicious fire in Williamson

A fire that destroyed one of the oldest buildings in downtown Williamson may have been intentionally set. Firefighters were able to contain a fire early Monday morning, but later a second fire started in an elevator shaft and burned down the building. State fire marshals are still investigating.
