WV child dies from the flu

A West Virginia child has died from the flu. It’s the state’s first influenza-associated pediatric death. The five-year-old child died Monday at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Officer involved shooting under investigation

A Charleston police officer is recovering at home after he was hit in the head with an antique flat iron. The officer shot and wounded the suspect who’s linked to a homicide and carjacking on the West Side. The suspect underwent surgery and remains hospitalized.

Charleston police have been investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday near the GoMart near Pennsylvania Avenue. Officers said one suspect was shot by police. Stolen artwork recovered

Several pieces of art that were stolen out of a delivery truck in Huntington have been recovered from a home in Guyandotte. A suspect is under arrest. Paul Johnston, of Huntington, has been charged with grand larceny.

Rescue crews searching for missing kayaker

Rescue crews in Barbour County are searching the banks of the Middle Fork River for a kayaker who’s been missing since Sunday. Witnesses saw the kayaker get swept under a rock at Audra State Park and never resurfaced.

“Born Alive” bill passes Senate

The state Senate unanimously passed the “Born-Alive” bill that requires physicians to provide the same kind of medical care to a baby born during an abortion procedure as they would to a baby born prematurely. The bill now goes to conference committee, and Governor Justice says he will sign the bill.
