Massive shoplifting ring shut down

A Cross Lanes man is accused of running a massive shoplifting network in Kanawha County. Nedeltcho Vladimirov ran a money laundering scheme and paid shoplifters pennies on the dollars for stolen merchandise, and then he sold the items online. The shoplifters stole nearly 370-thousand-dollars in merchandise over a two year period.

Boulder slams into WVU PRT vehicle

Three people were hurt when a boulder hit a WVU PRT vehicle and a car on the road. A rock slide came down between the Engineering and Transportation stations on U.S.19. All three victims suffered minor injuries.

Truck submerged in Milton backwater

A 79-year-old man wasn’t injured when he lost control of his truck and ran into the backwater in Milton. He went down a ravine between Ohio Valley Bank and Gino’s. He was able to get out of the himself, and bystanders helped him out of the ravine.

High water threat with more rain this week

More rain this week, could bring another high water threat. Three-quarters-to-an-inch of rain is expected through this afternoon. We will dry out after lunchtime through Wednesday morning, but more rain will move in Wednesday afternoon, dumping more rain into an already swollen Ohio River.

Fayette County Voters Approve Levies

Fayette County voters passed the county’s law enforcement, fire and library levies for the next five years. Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley shared the results of the vote on the department’s Facebook page. About 90% of those who voted were in favor of all three levies, according to the Facebook post.

Senate Approves Bill Creating a New Court

The West Virginia Senate approved a bill creating an intermediate appeals court. Senators approved the measure Monday by a vote of 18-14. An intermediate court would hear civil cases. The bill now moves to the House.

Glasgow church facing noise complaints

Neighbors near the Glasgow Church of the Nazarene are lodging noise complaints against the church. The church set up loud speakers outside to broadcast the service on Sunday mornings as a way to get more people to come to church. The mayor thinks it violates the town’s noise ordinance.

Governor presents BRIDGE Grant awards

Governor Justice will present Bridge Grant awards today in Kanawha County. The individual grants are worth up to 25-thousand-dollars and go to local organizations to combat substance abuse, improve crimes rates, and stimulate neighborhood revitalization.
