Manchin in Twitter battle with Trump

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is in a Twitter battle with President Trump. The President tweeted that he was “very surprised and disappointed” that Manchin voted guilty on two articles of impeachment. Manchin responded that, “No Democrat has worked harder in a bipartisan way” in the hopes that Trump would succeed.

Stabbing near Marshall University campus

One person was injured in a stabbing near the Marshall University campus. It happened near the CVS Pharmacy at 20th Street and 5th Avenue. The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition. Police are looking for a suspect.

Man charged with attacking girlfriend and toddler

A Charleston man is accused of attacking his girlfriend, and shoving her 15-month-old son to the ground. The woman suffered cuts to her neck and lip, and the child has a possible broken nose. Thirty-year-old Kevin Booth is charged with child abuse and strangulation.

Gov. Justice Encourages Census Participation

Gov. Jim Justice said he’s committed $1 million in state funds to encourage participation in the 2020 Census. The governor also encouraged residents to apply for temporary jobs helping with the count. Bill Would Honor First Responders with Medal of Valor

The West Virginia House voted unanimously Friday to create a Medal of Valor for first responders. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Woody Williams urged lawmakers to create the state’s highest honor for any first responder who demonstrates an heroic act. The bill now moves to the Senate.

I-64 Bridge is Open Again

The eastbound lanes on the Interstate 64 St. Albans-Nitro Bridge are open again after detours last week. Last Thursday the lanes were closed due to a failed expansion joint, but crews completed the repair work over the weekend. The West Virginia Department of Transportation said crews worked around the clock to get traffic flowing again.
