A Belle man recently celebrated his 104th birthday. Herb Walker celebrated his birthday Tuesday and his family said he still drives, cooks and loves to cut grass. He also adds that he never did drink or smoke.

State Lottery revenue over $1-billion

State Lottery revenue is over a billion-dollars. Both Racetrack Video Lottery and Limited Video Lottery numbers are up. Revenue from Powerball and Mega Millions missed the mark due to a lack of large jackpots. It’s the 18th year in a row the Lottery has topped over one-billion-dollars in sales.

WV Senate calls for term limits

The West Virginia Senate is calling for a convention of states to change the U.S. Constitution. The resolution calls for term limits in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. It still needs to be passed by the state House of Delegates.

Herbert Hoover High School groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the new Herbert Hoover High School in Elkview. The new school will replace the building that was destroyed in the 2016 flood. The school will open in 2021.

Backboard shattered in JV basketball game

Riverside High School basketball player, 14-year-old Braydin Ward, went in for a dunk and shattered the backboard at Tuesday night’s junior varsity game with George Washington. No glass fell, but the game was canceled as a precaution.

Escaped inmate sentenced to five more years

Five more years will be added to Todd Boyes sentence. He’s the inmate who walked out of the South Central Regional Jail in 2017 and was recaptured a few days later trying to cross the border into Mexico. Boyes is already serving up to 25-years for attempted murder.
