Third horse rescued from Kentucky strip mine

A third horse has been rescued from a Kentucky strip mine where twenty other horses were found shot to death. Rescue groups were able to save the horses after the sound of distant gun fire scared them off. A $23,000 reward is being offered for information about the shootings.

Man confesses to stealing heavy equipment

A man is under arrest for stealing heavy equipment from the Athens County Engineer’s Office Substation, and parking the machinery in a church parking lot in Jackson County. Twenty-five-year-old Robert Reel II confessed to the theft.
