Firefighters will receive back wages

Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin says the City’s firefighters haven’t received the correct holiday pay since 2012. The City reached an over one-and-a-half-million-dollar agreement with the Charleston Professional Firefighters union for back wages. Charleston City Council will vote on the agreement next week.

Cabell County delegate donates kidney

Cabell County Democratic Delegate Sean Hornbuckle missed the start of the legislative session for a good reason. He’s recovering from surgery after donating a kidney to his sister. She is doing well, and Hornbuckle plans to be back to work later this week.

Man convicted of murder in fatal beating

A jury found 35-year-old Christopher Goodwin guilty of murder in the 2018 beating death of another man. Goodwin was convicted of hitting Jonathan Brown in the head with a large metal pipe at a home in Quinland. Sentencing is set for March.

Police investigating Scioto County shooting

Police are investigating after a woman was found in her bedroom with a gunshot wound in the Wheelersburg area. Thirty-two-year-old Sarina Palacios was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in critical condition. A person of interest is in custody.

Several Putnam County Establishments Cited for Selling Alcohol to Minors

Bartenders or sales clerks at 10 Putnam County establishments were cited for making underage alcohol sales. The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration and Putnam County Sheriff’s Office conducted compliance checks Saturday, Jan. 11.
