State Senators overwhelmingly passed a pay increase for judges in West Virginia. The bill now heads to the House. The bill would give Family Court judges a more than 20-percent pay raise, and state Supreme Court justices, circuit judges, and county magistrates would get an 18-percent pay hike.
The full state Senate will take up a tax overhaul package. One proposal would increase sales tax, but reduce property tax, and another proposal would cut personal property taxes on vehicles.
