Beginning today, Sheetz will offer free meals for children across West Virginia. The meal will consist of a free turkey sandwich, chips and a drink and will be available on a daily basis. SNAP recipients get additional benefits

DHHR has received two waivers from the federal government for SNAP receipients. Eligibility reviews in March, April, or May will be delayed six months, and a supplemental payment will be released to EBT cards on April 3rd and May 1st.

Primary election could be delayed

West Virginia’s primary election is scheduled for May 12th, two weeks after the projected peak of the spread of COVID-19, and there is a consensus building to delay the election.

Local officials hold virtual town hall

City of Charleston and Kanawha County leaders hosted a virtual town hall to answer question about the coronavirus response. There were lots of questions about testing, relief for small business owners, and about schools.

Cross Lanes shooting under investigation

Police are investigating a shooting on Rainbow Drive in Cross Lanes. The victim was shot when he went outside to investigate squealing tires and someone in the car shot him. He’s expected to be okay. No arrests have been made.
