Groundbreaking for new Herbert High School

Groundbreaking is set for around noon today at the new Herbert Hoover High School. The new school will be built on the Given Fork site, just off I-79 at the Elkview exit. The former high school was destroyed in the 2016 flood.

Cash found in Morgantown

Morgantown police are trying to find the owner of a large amount of cash that was found by a city employee over the holidays. To get it back, the owner will have to know the amount of money that was found, where it was lost, and how it was packaged.

Police chase ends when car crashes into home

A police chase ended when an SUV crashed into a house in Huntington. Police tried to make a traffic stop on Norwood Road when the driver took off and then hit a house on Park Street. The driver and two passengers are under arrest. No one was hurt.

Wintry blast Tuesday morning\

We are in for a wintry blast this morning around the Kanawha Valley and central West Virginia and east-central Kentucky. Snow could fall up to an inch-an-hour until 11 a.m. Which means we could get a quick one-to-three inches of snow.

Charlestn Grocery Store Closes

The Save A Lot grocery store on Virginia Street West in Charleston has closed for good. The company’s director of communications said the decision was made by independent operators, but did not provide more details. Save A Lot is a discounted supermarket chain and the Charleston location closed December 28.

Gun Found at Yeager Airport TSA Checkpoint

A Charleston man has been cited after the Transportation Security Administration at Yeager Airport found a handgun Sunday in his carry-on bag. TSA officers detected a .22-caliber handgun loaded with five bullets at the checkpoint and confiscated the gun and detained the man for questioning, according to a news release from TSA. Trout Could Be Smaller This Year

Snow is Expected Today

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 1 p.m. today for Kanawha, Lincoln, Mingo, Logan, Boone, Clay, McDowell and Wyoming counties. Up to 3 inches of snow is expected. Summers, Monroe and Greenbrier counties can expect snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
