News Staff The final two Kanawha County Magistrate races have been certified after campaign finance issues. Mike Ferrell is now officially the winner of the Division-Seven race, and in Division-eight, Ward Harshbarger was declared the winner.
A man with nine-warrants is under arrest after a pursuit that lasted more than an hour. Twenty-eight-year-old Daniel Nelson took off when officers tried to make a traffic stop in Fort Gay. A woman and seven-month-old were in the car, and are okay. After a short foot pursuit, officers took Nelson into custody.
Ten people are under arrest in Kenova after a six-week drug investigation. Charges range from drug possession to burglary and domestic violence. One suspect is on the run. Police are looking for 27-year-old Matthew Korff.
Today is the one-year anniversary of the Charleston tornado. It touched down east of Alum Creek, and stayed on the ground for eight-miles. You can still see some signs of damage in the Coventry Woods neighborhood. A second tornado also formed near the Springhill Cemetery.
Kanawha County commissioners have sent a letter to Gov. Jim Justice’s administration, requesting $10 million in CARES Act funds to support small businesses.
