WV unemployment falls below 13%

West Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to just below 13-percent last month as many business reopened, but the overall number is still high. More than one-hundred-thousand people are out of work.

Richwood mayor facing felony charges

Richwood Mayor Chris Drennen has been indicted on three felony counts. She’s accused of getting paid a month before a flood recovery organization existed and months after the organization disbanded. Drennen and two other Richwood officials were arrested in 2019 for misappropriating millions of dollars in federal flood relief money.

Couple wanted for hiding children from CPS

Sheriff’s deputies are looking for an Elkview couple who are wanted for hiding their children. Child Protective Services tried to remove the children from their home when the parents failed to find someone to care for the kids. The ten, eight, and one year old are currently missing.

Betty Puskar Dies at the Age of 80

West Virginia University said the First Lady of Morgantown has passed away. Betty Puskar was an advocate for the fight against breast cancer, and passed away at her home in Morgantown Sunday at the age of 80. In 1994, Puskar donated the initial amount needed to establish the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center.

St. Albans Pool to Open at the End of the Month

Schedule is Announced for Kanawha County Graduations

Kanawha County Schools has announced a schedule for graduation ceremonies for its eight high schools at Laidley Field. The school system had previously canceled scheduled graduation ceremonies because of concerns about the coronavirus, then said outdoor venues could hold ceremonies under proper guidelines.
