Health officials are concerned that kids are falling behind on vaccinations during the pandemic, so DHHR is offering free vaccinations for kids up to 18-years old at more than 420 sites statewide.

Kanawha County’s two pools will open in June. The Parks and Recreation Commission will open Coonskin Park outside Charleston and Pioneer Park in East Bank. An opening date hasn’t been set.

Charleston Town Center is officially open, but with new hours and new guidelines. The mall is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Social distancing is encouraged; stores have capacity limitations and arrows to show you where to go.

Seniors from Sissonville High School drove the normal homecoming route and supporters lined the route while Principal Ron Reedy handed out diplomas at the end, in front of the school. A summer staple in Charleston has joined the list of events canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers of Multifest held a teleconference meeting this week and voted unanimously to cancel this year’s edition. The plan is to resume the event in 2021. This summer would have been the 31st year for the festival.

The West Virginia Division of Highways officials said bids will open May 27 for the Oakwood Road intersection project on U.S. 119 in Kanawha County.
