News Staff Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin says the city is facing a two-million-dollar budget shortfall. The city has made cuts, hiring freezes are in place, and travel has been stopped. Goodwin is hopeful federal funding from the CARES Act will help.

West Virginia’s positive COVID-19 test rate is below two-percent, and the state Department of Health and Human Resources has conducted over 76-thousand tests since early March.
A Mercer County man is accused of killing an elderly man whose body was found outside his Lashmeet home. Forty-seven-year-old Richard Ellison was upset about a rooster making noise, and said Lucifer told him to do it. Ellison is charged with second-degree murder.
Police are looking for two suspects in connection to a murder and arson in Williamson. A third man, 32-year-old James Church is in custody. The three are accused of killing the man and starting the fire to cover up the crime.
