WVU class of 2020 virtual commencement

Forty-five-hundred WVU students received their diplomas virtually over the weekend. They received an inspiring messge from President Gordon Gee, and Country music singer and West Virginia native Brad Paisley received a Presidential Honorary Degree and led the class in a commencement rendition of “Country Roads.”

Gordmans files for bankruptcy

Gordmans says that, due to the coronavirus outbreak, it can no longer operate and is filing for bankruptcy and will liquidate its stores. The company says if a buyer isn’t found, the stores will be forced to close.

Buffalo Toyota plant reopens

About seven-hundred workers are back on the job at the Toyota engine and transmission plant in Buffalo. The auto manufacturer says it will begin limited manufacturing after six weeks off.

Man arrested for murder & arson

A man is under arrest, and police are still looking for two other suspects in a murder and arson in Williamson. James Church and two other men are accused of killing a man and setting an apartment building on fire. Five other people were injured, including two firefighters.

Gyms reopen today

Gymnastics, dance, cheerleading and martial arts facilities can all reopen today. At least one gym, Planet Fitness, will not reopen today. The gym says it is still evaluating local guidelines and restrictions. There are ten Planet Fitness locations in West Virginia.

Kanawha County buildings begin reopening

Offices at the Kanawha County Courthouse will begin a “safe opening” today with social distancing guidelines in place. Fever screening and facial coverings are mandatory, and some offices may require appointments.

Police Chief is Suspended While Domestic Incident is Investigated

A West Virginia police chief has been charged with domestic battery and suspended from his job.
