Positive COVID-19 test rate just over 2%

West Virginia’s positive coronavirus test rate is just over two-percent, with almost 14-hundred people testing positive for the virus statewide. A 25-year-old Berkely county woman died on Sunday, bringing the state’s death toll to 54.

Task froce will study African American coronavirus cases

A new task force is scheduled to meet today to study the high percentage of positive COVID-19 test results in the African-American community. The State Bureau of Public Health says African-Americans account for more than seven-percent of COVID-19 cases in West Virginia.

More daycare workers test COVID-19 positive

Two more day care workers have tested positive for COVID-19 at drive-up testing events. The workers are from the Zion Child Development Center in Charleston, and My Family Preschool and Childcare Center in Hurricane. Both day care centers are closed.

Man wanted in fatal Beckley shooting

A Charleston man is wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Beckley. Twenty-seven-year-old Tremaine Jackson is wanted for murder. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. There is a reward for information leading to his arrest.

COVID-19 testing event today in Montgomery

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department will hold a COVID-19 testing event today at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montgomery, and another testing event on Wednesday at the Student Union parking lot in Institute.

Gorge Resort Plans to Reopen Next Week

Adventures on the Gorge announced plans to reopen. Chief Executive Office Roger Wilson said Friday the resort hopes to partially open May 22 based on guidance from state leaders. WV Symphony Orchestra Announces New Season

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is forging ahead with its 2020-21 season. The season will begin Oct. 3 with a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, which will feature an all-Beethoven program at the Clay Center. They’ll also have Star Wars and Harry Potter performances in the 81st season.
