The Kanawha County Judicial Annex building will remain closed until at least mid-May. Access to the building was restricted in March after several employees tested positive for coronavirus.

West Virginia has worked through the backlog of more than 150-thousand unemployment claims, and starting Friday night, workers who don’t usually qualify for unemployment, like gig workers and the self-employed, will be able to file a claim for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.

Governor Justice has been counting on federal relief dollars to make up for an estimated 500-million-dollar state budget gap, but new guidance from the Treasury Department says the money can’t be used to backfill lost revenue. Justice says he’s confident Congress will make the money available to the states.

Yeager airport is tearing down two aircraft hangers to make way for a new U.S. Customs building. The new addition will increase safety for border patrol officers, and clear planes more efficiently. Construction will begin this summer.

Marshal l University will hold a virtual spring fountain ceremony this year. The event is scheduled for Saturday morning, and will be shown across the school’s social media accounts.

DHHR will issue a one-time special assistance payment to families who have temporarily lost or had their income reduced due to the pandemic. There are several requirements to receive the funding.

Two more people in West Virginia have died from COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 31. More than 980 people have tested positive for the virus. Testing will continue today at the state’s nursing homes, so far, more than two-thousand tests have come back negative.

An employees at Charleston Area Medical Center tested positive for COVID-19. The worker was exposed to the virus in the community, and not in a patient care area. They will self-quarantine at home.

The West Virginia Division of Highways is closing Route 10 at the Lincoln-Logan County line for about two weeks to repair a slide.
