Spring Commencement at Univesity of Charleston today

University of Charleston’s Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held today at the Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center Sports Arena. Around two-hundred-fifty students will graduate during the undergraduate ceremony, and one-hundred-twenty-five will take part n the graduate ceremony.

Contract negotiations continue at The Greenbrier

Unions representing workers at the Greenbriers are trying to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with the resort after failing to ratify a new contract. The two sides have been trying to negotiate an agreement since late January, and workers failed to approve an agreement this week.

Head of WV ODCP testifies in opioid trial

Head of the West Virginia Office of Drug Control Policy, Dr. Matthew Christiansen, took the stand in the state’s ongoing opioid trial. H explained the consistent increases in fatal overdoses in West Virginia, and a large part of the addiction crisis is tied to the flood of prescription opioids. The trial will resume Monday morning.

A familiar face is returning to West Virginia’s men’s basketball program. Fifth-year senior forward Emmitt Matthews Jr. is returning to Morgantown to conclude his college career where it began.

Man pleads guilty to hitting officer with a rock

Kayaker ok after sinking in Kanawha River

Rescue crews responded to a water rescue involving a kayaker at the Poca boat ramp. A private boater was able to get the kayaker out of the water and back to shore. He was treated at the scene and is doing okay.

WV DOH flagger hit in work zone

Police are looking for the driver who hit a Division of Highways flagger in a work zone at the intersection of 119 and Court Avenue. Man accused of assaulting young girl

A Putnam County man is charged with sexually abusing and assaulting a girl under twelve-years-old. It went on for almost two years. He brought the girl pets and gifts, and then threatened to hurt the animals if she told anyone.

Downtown Huntington attack under investigation

A Huntington man is under arrest for attacking a man on 10th Street. Forty-one-year-old Charles Bolling punched the victim in the head and kicked him in the face while he was on the ground. The victim suffered multiple broken bones and chipped teeth.
