News Staff University of Charleston’s Spring Commencement Ceremony will be held today at the Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center Sports Arena. Around two-hundred-fifty students will graduate during the undergraduate ceremony, and one-hundred-twenty-five will take part n the graduate ceremony.
Unions representing workers at the Greenbriers are trying to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with the resort after failing to ratify a new contract. The two sides have been trying to negotiate an agreement since late January, and workers failed to approve an agreement this week.

Rescue crews responded to a water rescue involving a kayaker at the Poca boat ramp. A private boater was able to get the kayaker out of the water and back to shore. He was treated at the scene and is doing okay.
Police are looking for the driver who hit a Division of Highways flagger in a work zone at the intersection of 119 and Court Avenue. A seventeen-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a vehicle while he was riding a skateboard in Fayetteville. The driver stayed on the scene.
A Putnam County man is charged with sexually abusing and assaulting a girl under twelve-years-old. It went on for almost two years. He brought the girl pets and gifts, and then threatened to hurt the animals if she told anyone.
A Huntington man is under arrest for attacking a man on 10th Street. Forty-one-year-old Charles Bolling punched the victim in the head and kicked him in the face while he was on the ground. The victim suffered multiple broken bones and chipped teeth.
