The West Virginia National Guard has a new Black Hawk helicopter. The HH-60M- model is designed to serve as an air ambulance to evacuate wounded troops from the battlefield. It is the first of six new helicopters the Guard is expecting in the next year.

Police are investigating after a woman’s body was found in Island Creek near a community center in Omar.

Caleb Gibson has been appointed as an interim Cabell County Commission. He fills a vacancy created by the death of Commissioner Nancy Cartmill, who died in February. Gibson has filed to run for the seat, and is a candidate in the May 10th primary.
