Pills containing fentanyl, disguised as prescripton pills

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern district of West Virginia is warning of an uptick in counterfeit pills containing fentanyl, disguised as prescription pills. The pills are stamped as oxycodone, adderall or xanax, and the fakes are hard to tell from the real ones, and they are being marketed on social media.

Complaint filed against unlicensed contractor

State Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is filing a complaint against an unlicensed West Virginia contractor. Bradley Glaspell and his wife operated Over The Top Roofing. They’re accused of performing illegal home improvement services, taking more than 400-thousand-dollars in payment up front, and never showing up to complete or even begin the work.

West Virginia veterans could lose services

A new report from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs includes recommendations that would limit services for veterans in West Virginia. Three West Virginia VA hospitals could see a drop off in services. In-patient and emergency room visits would be discontinued under the new guidelines.

Day 5 of opioid trial focused on marketing

Day five on the state’s trial against several opioid manufacturers focused on marketing materials. An expert witness testified that the messaging targeting doctors effectively lowered the bar for what constituted an appropriate opioid prescription. The trial is expected to last at least two months.
