Morgantown beat South Charleston 58-to-42 in the Class-AAAA semifinal. The Mohigans advance to the finals tonight against Parkesburg South at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.

The Kanawha County Commission is allocating over a million-dollars for an outdoor recreation project in the upper Kanawha Valley. It’s the beginning phase of a 50-million-dollar project to build a recreation trail nearly 30-miles from Marmet to Montgomery. Commissioners say the project will bring in millions of dollars in recreational tourism.

More skeletal remains were found near Clendenin. They were found in the generally the same area where a skull was discovered last week in a wooded area just outside the city limits. The remains have not been identified.

An ex-Logan police officer will spend nine years in prison for using excessive force during an arrest. Forty -five-year-old Everett Maynard assaulted the victim in the police department bathroom, then dragged him into another room and rammed his head into a door frame.

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who led deputies on a pursuit and then pulled a gun before running into the woods. Twenty-six-year-old Cody Casteel was last seen going into the woods near Bunker Hill Church Road. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police responded to a welfare check at a home on McKee Avenue and found the front door open. When they went inside they found a man shot to death. No one is in custody.

Police are investigating after human remains were found in a car submerged in Dewey Lake. Investigator says the car has been in the lake for some time. A fisherman reported seeing something in the water. The coroner’s office is trying to ID the body and the cause of death.

A St. Albans man is under arrest in connection to the shooting death of another man in Uneeda. Thirty-three-year-old Timothy Westfall is accused of getting into an argument with the man when shots were fired. He was taken into custody in Huntington.

Nearly $23 million in grant funding has been awarded to 26 nursing education programs at colleges, universities, schools of nursing and career technical education centers across West Virginia.
