Former DHHR Cabinet Secretary Paul Nusbaum Has Died

A funeral service was held Friday for Paul Nusbaum, a former cabinet secretary of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. Nusbaum died last Tuesday at age 71. He served as cabinet secretary from 2001 to 2005 under Gov. Bob Wise.

WVU football players will make money from jersey sales

Mountaineer football players will now be able to make money off of jersey sales. The University will offer customizable Nike branded jerseys of current student athletes, and those players will be compensated for each jersey that is sold bearing their name.

West Virginia DHHR is advising parents to throw out some baby formula. You should stop using certain Similac, Alimentum or EleCare powdered infant formulas. The FDA is investigating after four infants got sick, and one died.

Bill would allow teachers to carry a gun

West Virginia school teachers may be allowed to carry a gun in the classroom. The House Education Committee approved a bill that would give county school boards the power to allow their teachers to carry a gun and become armed school protection officers. Teacher unions are not in favor of the proposal.

Gov. Justice in favor of ending mask mandates

Governor Justice says he is in favor of letting local schools decide to drop mask mandates on their campuses. Kanawha County Schools are making masks optional, but Wyoming County Schools will keep the masks on for now. Their board voted to keep the mask mandate in place through the end of the month.

WV National Guard maintains hospital presence

COVID numbers are declining, but the West Virginia National Guard still has large presence in hospitals across the state to ease staffing issues. Almost 350-soldiers are in almost forty hospitals statewide. The goal is to free up medical personnel to do their job, instead of covering empty positions.

Woman pleads guilty in espionage case

A Maryland woman is pleading guilty in an espionage case. She and her husband were arrested in West Virginia last October. Her husband pleaded guilty earlier this week. They are accused of selling restricted data related to the design of nuclear-powered warships.
