Pedestrian is Killed in a Charleston Accident

A pedestrian in Rand passed away due to injuries sustained from a car crash last Thursday. Charleston police said Danny Ray Bonham was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center after being hit by a car traveling eastbound on Venable Avenue near the intersection of 26th Street. He died Saturday morning. The crash remains under investigation.

Senate in favor of ending pop tax

The state Senate is in favor of getting rid of the soda tax. Senators unanimously voted to stop the one-cent tax. The pop tax has been on the books for seventy-years to help fund the WVU School of Medicine. That funding would now come from the State Insurance Premium Tax.
