Two charged with illegally killing deer

Two Tyler County residents are being charged with illegally killing three deer. Natural Resources Police served a search warrant at a home in the Friendly area and found a buck that was killed during archery season, and two other bucks that were illegally killed.

Racial slurs at middle school basketball game

Cabell County Schools say some students were the target of racial slurs during a basketball game between Huntington and Milton Middle Schools. Pothole repairs on I-64 near St. Albans are underway. Snow, ice, rain, freezing and thawing over the past several weeks has caused pavement to fall on I-64 between the Route-35 interchange and the St. Albans exit. Expect lane closures this weekend.

Two men die in Logan County home

A Logan County man and his elderly father were found dead in their home on Crooked Creek Road. Authorities suspect 92-year-old Vernon Varney, and 56-year-old Jeff Varney died of carbon monoxide poisoning. The state Medical Examiner’s office is working to determine a cause of death.

Jenkins stepping down from state Supreme Court

West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Evan Jenkins is resigning from the court, and plans to return to private law practice. Morgan Wallen concert rescheduled

Morgan Wallen was planning to play a shows in Indiana, West Virginia and Pennsylvania this week. Those shows have all be rescheduled. The Charleston show, planned for Friday night, will be made up on April 15th. Anyone with a ticket should just hold on to it for the show in April.

Jan. tax collection sets record

State tax collection continues to be way above estimates. In January, the state took in nearly 147-million dollars more than projected. Since the start of the fiscal year, the actual revenue collections have been a half-billion more than estimates. January was a record setting month.

Retired sheriff denies harassment allegations

Retired Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens is denying accusations by a former deputy that he created a hostile work environment and harassed employees. Man killed in hit-and-run on WV Turnpike

A Florida man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the West Virginia Turnpike. The victim was pulled over on the shoulder working on a problem with his trailer when he was hit by a passing vehicle that did not stop. No arrests have been made.
