The West Virginia State Tax Department plans to formally investigate what led to an employee overtaxing a Kanawha County coal mining company more than 800-thousand-dollars. Police are releasing the name of the Marshall student who was hit and killed by a vehicle. Twenty-two-year-old Maribeth Cox was hit by an SUV while trying to cross the street in the crosswalk at the intersection of Third Avenue and 18th Street in Huntington. An investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
One person was killed in a shooting on 19th Street in Huntington. A neighbor reported hearing as many as four gunshots. Investigators are trying to find out what led up to the incident. No arrests have been made.
