Senators hold rural water field hearing

A trio of U.S. Senators are holding a field hearing on rural water issues. Shelley Moore Capito is the Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee. She was joined by Tom Carper and Joe Manchin in Beckley yesterday. They heard from community leaders about concerns over aging infrastructure and safe drinking water.

WV House & Senate agree on new congressional map

The House and the Senate are agreeing on a new congressional map. The North-South split could lead to a primary battle between Alex Mooney and David McKinley for the northern district seat. Governor Justice still needs to sign off on the new map alignment.

Kanawha County delegate recovering from post-surgical complications

A Kanawha County delegate is in the hospital after taking a leave from interims and the special session since Sunday. Sixty-three-year-old Republican Delegate Larry Pack represents the 35th District. Other delegates gathered outside the hospital to pray for him. Pack is recovering from post-surgical complications, and says he looks forward to going home soon.

Man under arrest for Oak Hill arson

An Oak Hill man is under arrest for arson. Twenty-one-year-old Bryson Burdette-Hughes is accused of setting a home on fire on McClain Street. After a two month investigation, Burdett-Hughes was taken into custody Friday and poste a 40-thousand-dollar bond.

Woman charged with cyberbullying

A Logan County woman is being charged with cyberbullying. Angel Collins threatened to have her daughter beat up another student, or she would hire someone to do it. The messages were left on the middle schoolers’ phone through Snapchat.

CDC releases tips for holiday gatherings

The CDC is releasing tips on “safer ways to celebrate holidays.” The guidelines urge eligible individuals to get vaccinated, wear “well-fitting masks,” avoid poorly ventilated and crowded spaces and also caution that if you are sick “don’t host or attend a gathering.”

CAMC extending employee vaccination deadline

Charleston Area Medical Center is extending the employee vaccination deadline to November 6th. The extension will allow workers who received their first dose in the past week, to get a second dose before the deadline. About two-percent of CAMC employees are not vaccinated.

Local Lawmaker Thanks Supporters as he Recovers in the Hospital

A local state lawmaker is thanking supporters as he recovers in the hospital. Del. Larry Pack, R-Kanawha, sent out a series of tweets thanking the lawmakers who gathered to pray for him, as he recovers from some post-surgery complications. Pack also thanked his medical team and said he looks forward to going home soon.
