WVU is extending its indoor mask mandate until October 20th. The vaccination rate for students and staff is less than eighty-percent. The number of positive cases on campus remains much lower than the state-wide average.

COVID-19 numbers improving

The state Department of Health and Human Resources is reporting almost nine-hundred new case of COVID-19. There are over eleven-thousand active cases, and five more people died. There are just under nine-hundred patients in the hospital. All those numbers are improving, and more than 24-thousand West Virginians have received a booster shot.

WV asking feds for more Regeneron doses

West Virginia’s congressional delegation is asking for additional Regeneron monoclonal antibody doses as health care facilities remain overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients. The state is asking for three-thousand weekly doses, but federal health officials denied the request.

Special session expected next week to consider redistricting maps

A special session is anticipated next week to consider new legislative maps. The Senate Redistricting Committee plans to meet this afternoon to discuss over twenty proposed congressional maps. The legislature is trying to split the state in half after losing a third congressional seat when the Census determined West Virginia’s population is shrinking.

Rod Run & Doo Wop parade rolls into downtown Charleston

The Charleston Boulevard Rod Run and Doo Wop car show rolls into the capital city this afternoon with a parade beginning at 4 p.m. The parade starts at Magic Island and will wind its way through downtown and end at Cabela’s. There will be rolling road closures. Doo Wop events will continue through Saturday.

Police looking for stolen minivan

A young mother is asking the public for help in finding her stolen minivan. Someone swiped the van last month from her driveway on Garrison Avenue.
