Gas prices rise ahead of Labor Day weekend

Gas prices are up ahead of the Labor Day weekend. Gas Buddy reports the average price of gas in West Virginia is 3-01 a gallon. That’s the highest in seven years. Prices could continue to rise, because refineries are shut down in Louisiana after the hurricane.

Judge approves Purdue Pharma bankruptcy plan

A federal bankruptcy judge has approved the terms of the settlement in the Purdue Pharma bankruptcy plan. The makers of OxyContin will pay four-and-a-half-billion-dollars. The Sackler family will be removed from ownership, and also be protected from any future litigation.

Blasting resumes on I-64

Blasting work will resume today near the I-64 St. Albans interchange. Blasting is scheduled for today and tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. Traffic will be temporarily shut down on parts of I-64 five to ten minutes before the blast.

Deadly hit-and-run on MacCorkle Avenue

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver that killed a man on MacCorkle Avenue. The man’s body was found in the median near Hardee’s and Dow Chemical. South Charleston police are reviewing surveillance video to track down the driver.

Former WV fire fighter & police officer facing federal charges

Former West Virginia firefighter and ex-police officer, Christopher Osborne, is facing federal charges for sexually assaulting a sixteen-year-old girl, and destroying a woman’s property by starting a fire. Ida floods parts of WV

Clean up continues in parts of West Virginia as Tropical Storm Ida dumped over four inches of rain in some parts of the state. The heaviest rainfall was just west of the mountains. There are no reports of widespread property damage, and no one was hurt. Overall, officials say it could’ve been much worse.
