8-year-old accidentally shot by 5-year-old

An eight-year-old is recovering after being shot in the foot by a five-year-old. The children were playing with their grandfather’s gun when it accidentally went off at a home in the Coopers Creek area. The victim is expected to be okay.

18-Wheeler carrying Moderna vaccine crashes in Monongalia County

An 18-wheeler carrying Moderna vaccine crashed on I-79 in Monongalia County. The driver lost control, hit a concrete barrier and went thirty-feet down an embankment. He was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The West Virginia Center for Preparedness helped recover some of the vaccine. It was bound for a foreign country.

Unemployment rate falls to pre-pandemic levels

West Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to five-percent last month. That’s the lowest rate since January 2020, before the pandemic started. The unemployment rate is down in all fifty-five counties. Pendleton County has the lowest unemployment rate at two-point-seven-percent, and the highest rate is in McDowell Count at eight-and-a-half-percent.
