Boat stolen from Jefferson home

Police are investigating after a boat was stolen from a dock at a home on Willow Drive in Jefferson. The boat was found, damaged and abandoned in the Elk River by Arlington Avenue in Charleston. No arrests have been made.

Active COVID-19 cases over 5,000

Active COVID-19 cases are now over five-thousand in West Virginia. DHHR is confirming over five-hundred new cases of the virus in the past twenty-four hours. Almost 290 people are in the hospital, and over one-hundred patients are in ICU.

Kanawha County Commission approves new vaccine incentives

The Kanawha County Commission is approving a new vaccine incentive program for sports teams and clubs. “The Kanawha TEAM Vaccinate” program allows public and private schools and universities to apply for 25-hundred to ten-thousand-dollars if 90-percent of their teams or clubs are vaccinated.

Cooling centers open as temperatures soar

Four cooling centers will be open again today as heat indices climb to around one-hundred degrees. The Roosevelt Neighborhood Center, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, North Charleston Community Center, and Kanawha City Community Center will be open until 9:00 p.m.
