2.0 GPA waiver approved for first 9 weeks

Students who don’t meet the 2.0 grade point average will be able to practice with athletic teams and participate in other extracurricular activities for the first nine-weeks of the fall semester. The state Board of Education approved the waiver as an avenue for students to re-engage with their schools.

Armed Robbery Reported in Huntington

Huntington police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Wednesday morning. Cabell County 911 dispatchers said it happened about 8 a.m. at Smokie’s Smoke Shop on U.S. 60. The caller told dispatchers the robber came in with a gun and told an employee to put money in a bag. The investigation is continuing.

Justice says second coaching job won’t interfere with running the state

Governor Justice says a second basketball coaching job won’t interfere with his duties to the state. The Greenbrier County Board of Education is considering hiring Justice to coach the boys’ team at Greenbrier East High School, in addition to coaching girls’ team. The board decided to delay a vote until its next meeting in September.
