State Fair opens Thursday

Masks will not be required outside at the state fair if you are fully vaccinated, but masks will be required indoors, regardless of vaccination status. Six counties turn red on WV COVID-19 alert map

Governor Justice says you are taking a risk if you are not vaccinated. Six counties are red on the state’s COVID-19 alert map, and only ten are still green. There are more than one-thousand new cases of the virus since Friday. Less than sixty-percent of eligible West Virginians ages twelve and older are fully vaccinated.

I-64 blasting moved up

Blasting near the St. Albans interchange on I-64 is being moved up to 10:30 this morning due to the possibility of lightning around lunchtime. Traffic pacing will begin at 10:20 a.m. The regular schedule will be in place for the rest of the week, with blasting at 12:30 through Friday.

Fire breaks out at Cross Lanes motel

Multiple fire departments battled a blaze at the Rodeway Inn in Cross Lanes. Firefighters were able put the fire out quickly, and no one was hurt. It’s believed to have started in an air conditioning unit.

Man leads police on two state chase

A Crum man is under arrest for driving a stolen vehicle, leading police on a two-state pursuit, and hitting two police cruisers. Fifty-one-year-old Allen Flemings took off when drug enforcement officers tried to pull him over. Catlettsburg police took over the chase, and it ended when Flemings hit two police vehicles. No one was hurt.

Kanawha County students return to the classroom

Day two, as students head back to the classroom. Teachers say the first day of school in Kanawha County went well. Educators say they are concentrating on student’s emotional and social well-being after a year of inconsistencies.
