Woman arrested for prescription fraud

A woman is under arrest for prescription fraud. Forty-one-year-old Amber Perdue is accused of using the information of a doctor she used to work for to get a Xanax prescription. She failed to appear at an arraignment hearing earlier this month.

Police investigating gas station robbery

Huntington Police are investigating a gas station robbery. It’s the second robbery in a week at the Red Lightning Exxon on Route 60. The thief flashed a gun and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt.

EPA orders Clarksburg to clean up drinking water by Aug. 1

The Environmental Protection Agency is ordering Clarksburg officials to provide a clean source of drinking water after elevated lead levels were found in some homes. The EPA says conditions present a health risk and ordered the Clarksburg Water Board to submit a plan to resolve the issue by August 1st.

Kanawha County Reports One Delta Variant

West Virginia health officials reported one new COVID-19 death and 80 new positive cases on Thursday. The latest death was a 69-year-old man from Preston County. The DHHR’s data shows there are 19 cases of the delta variant of COVID-19 in the state, including one in Kanawha County.

Active COVID cases are increasing in West Virginia for the first time since May. DHHR is reporting almost eighty new cases and seven more deaths. Just over 55-percent of state residents twelve and older have been fully vaccinated.
