Police respond to bogus 911 call

Police are looking for a suspect who made a bogus 911 call claiming an officer had been shot on Stockton Street and then hung up. That sent officers scrambling to the city’s west side. Dispatchers did a full roll-call and found that everyone was accounted for.

WVU retiring Talley’s #90

WVU football will retire Darryl Talley’s number-90 at the Mountaineers game against Texas Tech on October 2nd. Talley was a Mountaineer in the early 1980’s and was a second round draft pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1983.

Man arrested for threatening mother & brother

A 21-year-old Milton man is under arrest from threatened to kill his mother, brother, and his brother’s girlfriend. Jacob Napier is accused of punching his brother and his girlfriend, and threatening them. When police arrived, the suspect had a bloody nose and told officer to kill him. Napier is facing battery charges.

Convicted felon charged with selling guns at pawn shop

A Logan County man is facing charges after selling several guns at a pawn shop. Forty-six-year-old Jonah Rose is a convicted felon and sold eight firearms and pawned four more at Perry Brothers Pawn. He’s facing multiple counts of a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. None of the guns were stolen.

Suspicious house fire under investigation

Three fire departments battled a fire at an abandoned house on Mile Fork Road. Investigators are calling it suspicious because no utilities were hooked up, and no one had been living in the home for some time. No one was hurt.

Cabell County will offer full-time virtual learning

Cabell County Schools will offer a new full-time virtual learning academy starting in the 2021-2022 school year. Enrollment is open, and offers students an education at home from live, online state-certified teachers, access to school counselors, special education services and more. The program is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

No sales tax on guns & ammo

A new state law is in effect removing sales tax on guns and ammo. The law eliminates the six-percent tax. Gun shop owners say it will make them more competitive and they expect customers from bordering states to come to West Virginia to buy a gun.

Evans facing felony charge

Former Wayne County Delegate, Derrick Evans, is being indicted by a federal grand jury on a new charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting. Evans livestreamed video of a surge into the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
