New West Side neighborhood park plans

The city of Charleston is working with the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority to turn an empty lot into a park at the corner of Beatrice and Washington streets. Tentative plans include two basketball courts and play equipment for younger kids.

Couple charged with child neglect

A Parkersburg couple is facing child neglect charges. Police found their six kids living in “extremely poor” condition with trash and bugs throughout the residence. The children range in age from one to nine and were sleeping on one mattress in the living room.

PSC investigating Suddenlink complaints

The Public Service Commission is ordering Suddenlink Communications to show why it should not be required to take specific remedial steps to improve service to customers and why the commission should not impose penalties. The commission has received more than 19-hundred quality of service complaints against the company.

Save the Music Foundation Sends Grants to West Virginia Schools

Eight West Virginia middle schools will receive grants to support their music programs. Gov. Jim Justice, state arts curator Randall Reid-Smith and Chiho Feindler, senior director of programs and policy for the Save The Music Foundation, announced the grants this week. Huntington Mayor testifies at opioid trial
