The state Department of Health and Human Resources says COVID-19 continue to fall, with just over two-thousand active cases statewide. Just over fifty-percent of the state’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

Eviction moratorium lifted July 1

The pandemic eviction moratorium expires on July 1st, and thousands of people may not be able to make back rent payments. The United Way says inquiries for social services and housing resources in West Virginia have skyrocketed from one-thousand in 2019 to five-thousand this year.

Suspicious fire under investigation

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspicious fire in Eastern Kanawha County. A brand new mobile home was destroyed in the blaze. It was not occupied and no one was hurt. The fire appears to have started underneath the home.
