Manchin offers election reform bill compromise

Senator Joe Manchin is offering a compromise on a sweeping election reform bill. The deal would make Election Day a federal holiday, ban partisan gerrymandering and strengthen voter ID laws. Republicans are not on board with the proposal.

WV mail carrier sentenced for manipulating absentee ballot requests

A West Virginia mail carrier will spend six months on home confinement and five years on probation for manipulating absentee voter requests. Forty-eight-year-old Thomas Cooper altered eight absentee ballot requests in Pendleton County. He changed the party affiliation on five ballots from Democrat to Republican.

Man arrested after throwing can at officer

A man is under arrest after officers found him in a condemned building crushing drugs on top of a can. When he saw police, he threw the can and hit a deputy. The officer wasn’t hurt. More drugs were found on the suspect when he was being arrested.

Businesses adjusting after mask mandate lifted

Local businesses are trying to adjust after Governor Justice lifted the mask mandate over the weekend. Some businesses are still requiring employees to wear masks as a matter of perception and responsibility. Health officials say 44-percent of people in West Virginia are fully vaccinated.
